Job summary

Greystone of Lincoln, Inc. is seeking a Purchasing Manager for the Machining Division to lead sourcing, supplier management, and material/tooling procurement on the plant floor in Lincoln, RI.

You will evaluate supplier quotes and specs on technical merit, drive make-vs-buy decisions with Engineering and Quality, and own supplier performance, cost, and lead-time risk in collaboration with Operations. This role requires an engineering background and working knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100 and ITAR

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing or related engineering discipline.
• Ability to read and evaluate engineering drawings, material specifications, and tolerances.
• Experience with MRP/ERP-driven purchasing, supplier scorecards, and cost/spend analysis.
• Strong negotiation skills and accountability for supplier performance.
• Knowledge of raw material markets and cost/tariff pressures."

Responsibilities

• Lead sourcing and procurement of raw material, tooling, outside services, and capital equipment, evaluating suppliers on technical capability and quality history, not price alone.
• Own supplier performance management: on-time delivery, quality reject rate, lead-time trends, and pricing history; address adverse trends.
• Explain significant price or lead-time changes with engineering-grade analysis rather than accepting vendor claims at face value.
• Qualify and onboard alternate suppliers for critical materials and tooling to reduce single-source risk.
• Partner with Engineering on tooling specs, make-vs-buy decisions, and technical evaluation of new equipment or automation proposals.
• Ensure purchasing practices comply with ISO 9001/AS9100 and ITAR/CMMC flow-down requirements.
