Job summary

Greystone of Lincoln, Inc. in Lincoln, RI seeks a Purchasing Manager to lead sourcing, supplier management, and material/tooling procurement with engineering-informed decisions on specs and quality.

The role requires a technical engineering background, MRP/ERP purchasing experience, and strong negotiation skills to manage costs, lead times, and supplier performance across Engineering, Quality, and Operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• Ability to read and evaluate engineering drawings, material specifications, and tolerances to assess supplier capability.
• Experience with MRP/ERP-driven purchasing, supplier scorecards, and cost/spend analysis.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to hold suppliers accountable to tech and quality requirements.
• Knowledge of raw material markets (e.g., carbide blanks, stainless and tool steels) and cost/tariff dynamics.

Responsibilities

• Lead sourcing and procurement of raw material, tooling, outside services, and capital equipment, evaluating suppliers on technical capability and quality history, not price alone.
• Own supplier performance management: on-time delivery, quality reject rate, lead-time trends, and pricing history.
• Investigate and explain price or lead-time changes from suppliers with engineering-grade analysis.
• Qualify and onboard alternate suppliers for critical materials and tooling to reduce single-source risk.
• Partner with Engineering on tooling spec, make-vs-buy decisions, and evaluation of new equipment proposals.
• Partner with Quality on supplier corrective action and incoming inspection criteria.
• Own MRP-driven purchasing in ERP reflecting demand, BOMs, and lead times.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and blanket/contract purchase agreements for key materials and tooling.
• Manage purchasing budget and report spend to plant leadership.
• Ensure purchasing complies with ISO 9001/AS9100 and ITAR/CMMC where applicable.
