Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a Documentation Specialist in Cedar Rapids, IA to edit and format software/hardware documentation, interface with engineers and managers, and ensure changes are properly implemented. You will coordinate, track, and report status throughout pre‑release, release, and revisions, while generating reports and supporting data analytics.

The role requires an AA/AS degree with at least 6 years of relevant experience, SAP knowledge, and experience working across cross‑functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Edits format of software/hardware documentation.
• Interfaces with technicians, engineers and engineering managers to edit/format documentation.
• Verifies change requests are in the proper state and implements them into documentation.
• Performs data conversion for software development or project files.
• Coordinates, tracks and reports status during pre‑release, release and revision of documentation.
• Provides tools expertise and support to Engineering (MS Office Apps, databases, change management and tracking tools).
• Generates reports as required.
• Operates in a Scaled Agile Framework environment.
• Supports Third‑Party Intellectual Property process documentation.
• Prepares presentations and supports development of engineering web pages.
• Collects metrics and presents analysis materials.
• Assists in tracking action items and tasks in change management tools.
• Supports bid & proposal processes and follows up with bidding engineers to meet deadlines.
• Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise.
• Serves as a liaison between engineering teams, management and customers.

Job description

• Edits format of software/hardware documentation.
• Interfaces with technicians, engineers and engineering managers to edit/format documentation.
• Verifies change requests are in the proper state and implement into documentation.
• Performs data conversion using various application media for software development or project file maintenance.
• Perform as primary focal point, coordinating, tracking and reporting status for inquiries and problem resolution during the pre-release, release, and revision of development/product related documentation.
• Provides tools expertise and support to Engineering: MS Office Apps, requirements capture databases, change management and tracking tools.
• Generate reports as required.
• Operates within a Scaled Agile Framework environment and performs related duties to enable the team to work efficiently.
• Supports the Third-Party Intellectual Property process by coordinating the completion of all necessary documentation.
• Preparation of presentations and support development of engineering web pages.
• Collects metrics and prepares presentation materials for analysis.
• Assists in tracking action items, and tasks in the change management tools.
• Often will provide support in driving closure to the action items.
• Assists with the Bid & Proposal process and follows up with bidding engineers in order to meet deadlines.
• Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise.
• Serves as a liaison between engineering teams, management and the customer.
• Builds productive working relationships internally and externally on occasion.
• Contacts involve obtaining or providing information or data requiring some explanation or interpretation.

Requirements

• Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
• Experience communicating with a wide variety of technical and management personnel.
