Expert Executive Recruiters (EER Global) is seeking a Director of Engineering in Arlington, VA. The role leads an engineering team supporting utility-scale solar facilities and BESS, coordinating with developers, M&A, construction, and operations to ensure compliant, cost-effective designs.

The position requires a PE license and 8+ years in energy, with strong civil/electrical design background and HV/MV experience. Travel may be required during project phases.

Qualifications

• PE license is required.
• 8+ years in energy industry.
• 5+ years in utility-scale solar project engineering; BESS experience is a plus.
• PJM and MISO markets experience is a plus.
• Background in civil and electrical design, MV collection, HV substations, and SCADA for utility-scale solar projects.
• Experience supporting construction and commissioning activities.
• Experience preparing or reviewing construction cost estimates.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multidisciplinary team of civil and electrical engineers and technicians.
• Improve engineering design management processes.
• Forecast staffing needs for active projects and future pipeline.
• Recruit project engineering personnel as needed.
• Act as senior technical authority for development, M&A, and construction efforts; manage external SMEs.
• Review and resolve complex technical issues with internal and external experts.
• Develop and implement efficient engineering workflows for standardization.
• Coordinate with Operations Engineering, Development, Compliance, and Asset Management.
