Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a Director of Engineering at the Ohio office in Gahanna to oversee engineering, business operations, Right of Way, reliability and capital programs. You will lead a team, set design standards, manage contractors, and drive IT systems across the engineering process.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, 10+ years in power engineering and 3+ years leading teams; MBA preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
• MBA preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight, management and leadership to a staff of engineering, project management and right of way employees and contractors.
• Develop business operations strategies that support a safe, reliable, cost effective, and technically sound distribution system.
• Establish company-wide design standards and implement work plans and budgets.
• Lead engineering and technical discussions in regulatory proceedings or external presentations.
• Establish policies and procedures for all engineering activities and provide training to staff.
• Manage engineering contracts to ensure deliverables meet design standards and terms.
• Coordinate with C&DS and other distribution teams on wide initiatives.
• Oversee IT systems used in the engineering process and maximize their utilization.
• Identify new technical solutions in the electric distribution industry.
