Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) Ohio seeks a Director of Engineering to oversee engineering, business operations, Right of Way, reliability and IT systems for distribution and major capital programs. You will lead the engineering organization, coach staff, manage contractors, set design standards, and coordinate with district managers on process improvements and regulatory activities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
MBA preferred but not required.
10+ years in power engineering or related field.
3+ years of leading or managing engineering teams.

Responsibilities

Provide oversight and leadership to staff and contract employees who support engineering, project management and right of way.
Develop business operations strategies to support a safe, reliable, cost-effective distribution system.
Establish design standards and work plans/budgets across distribution districts.
Serve as lead engineering and technical expert in regulatory proceedings or external presentations.
Manage engineering contracts to ensure deliverables meet AEP design standards and terms.
Coordinate with C&Ds and other distributions on wide initiatives.
Oversee IT systems used in the engineering process and ensure capabilities are utilized.
