Job summary

Canonical is hiring an Engineering Director to own the development and operations of internal software products, including Livepatch. You will lead three teams (Billing, Contracts, Livepatch) and drive engineering excellence while aligning with Canonical’s strategy.

Remote work in the EMEA region is available for this role. You will guide engineering managers, foster great practices, manage performance, and hire skilled engineers to expand the Commercial Systems unit, reporting to the leadership

Qualifications

Proven ability to drive multiple teams of software engineers to deliver results.
Experience with Golang, Python, or Java.
Excellent written and spoken English; strong presentation skills.
Willingness to travel internationally twice a year for company events.

Responsibilities

Lead multiple engineering teams and develop engineering managers to sustain Canonical culture.
Develop and evangelize strong engineering practices and processes across teams.
Set and implement solid performance goals with direct reports and teams.
Identify metrics for team health and take corrective actions as needed.
Own and communicate product development roadmaps for the Commercial Systems units.
Collaborate with stakeholders and product users to align on priorities.
Expand teams by hiring top talent to meet roadmap needs.
Participate as a leader in the Commercial Systems leadership team.
