Canonical is hiring an Engineering Manager for Distributed Systems Testing to lead a team building the quality engineering platform for their cloud portfolio. You will oversee testing infrastructure and automation across bare-metal and cloud environments, shaping technical direction and coaching engineers.

You will combine software engineering judgment with people leadership to scale testing capabilities, improve CI, and ensure high-quality software delivery across distributed systems.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering background with distributed systems focus.
• Experience leading software engineers and mentoring teams.
• Proficient in Python or Go and modern testing practices.
• Familiarity with Linux systems (Debian/Ubuntu preferred).

Responsabilités

• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of software and quality engineers.
• Set clear expectations and ensure timely delivery against goals.
• Partner with senior engineers to shape technical strategy and standards.
• Guide the development of automated testing infrastructure for reliability and interoperability.
• Improve CI pipelines and testing tools across bare-metal to public cloud.
• Enable teams to adopt distributed-systems testing practices.
• Contribute to design reviews, debugging, and hands-on engineering when needed.
• Represent the team with stakeholders and collaborate across the company on quality engineering.
