Job summary

Cubic Corporation, through Cubic Defense, seeks an Engineering Director in San Diego, CA to lead a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for the development, execution, and sustainment of advanced technology products and programs.

The on-site role operates on a 9/80 schedule with up to 25% travel to CONUS/OCONUS locations. The director will manage resource planning, technology roadmap development, IRAD planning, and mentoring to ensure smooth execution from concept through production.

Qualifications

12 years as Mechanical Engineering Lead or Engineering Director or similar
BS in Engineering discipline; Masters preferred
CAM certification and ability to obtain Secret clearance (Active preferred)
Experience with ASME Y14.5 drawings, tolerance stack-up analysis, manufacturing feasibility

Responsibilities

Develop engineering organization's strategic vision and long-term roadmap
Resource allocation aligned to contracts and financial plans
Plan IRADs and product roadmaps; determine TRL/MRL for products
Support IRADs and Programs of Record as needed
Create work plans, objectives, and IMS for project execution
Oversee technical development programs: Gate Reviews and Technical Baselines
Lead Mech Eng design team for electronic packaging and thermal/vibration modeling
Mentor engineers and drive succession planning and talent development
Prepare technical proposals for government agencies and primes
