Job summary

Douglas Dynamics, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Designer - Electrical to support the Vehicle Integrations team with harness design, testing, and documentation.

The role encompasses creating detailed CAD drawings, validating electrical concepts, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance reliability and safety of vehicle systems. The ideal candidate will have 12V DC electrical knowledge, hands-on experience with vehicle electricals, and 2D CAD skills.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with 12V DC electrical systems.
  • Experience working on vehicle electrical systems.
  • 2D CAD skills are desirable; on-the-job training available.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, testing, and validation of electrical harness/system prototypes.
  • Produce detailed harness and mechanical drawings on CAD following company standards.
  • Participate on cross-functional teams to improve vehicle-installed electrical component function and quality.
  • Read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical drawings, schematics, technical bulletins, and government regulations.
  • Assist in creating product literature including vehicle and NPD electrical Installation Instructions.
  • Support all 5S and Lean activities.
  • Complete other reasonably related duties as assigned.

We are seeking an Engineering Designer - Electrical.

  • Provide technical and functional support to the Vehicle Integrations team relating to vehicle installed and NPD harnessing, while adhering to Safety, Quality, Delivery and Costs metrics.

How You'll Make a Difference
  • Assist in the design, testing, and performance validation, of electrical harness / system prototypes which includes internal lab testing as well as external field testing.
  • Produce detailed harness and mechanical drawings on CAD following company standards with minimal guidance.
  • Participate on cross-functional teams to ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of vehicle installed electrical component function and quality.
  • Read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical drawings, schematics, technical bulletins, and government regulations.
  • Assist in creating product literature including vehicle and NPD electrical Installation Instructions.
  • Support all 5S and other Lean activities.
  • Complete other reasonably related duties as assigned.
What This Role Needs
Education and/or Experience:

Familiarity with 12V DC electrical systems and common electrical components. Experience working on vehicle electrical systems and general vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting. 2D CAD skills are desirable but on the job training is available.

Language Skills:

Able to read and interpret drawings, schematics, electrical and mechanical blueprints, technical bulletins, and procedures, or government regulations. Able to write operations and procedure manuals, and to effectively communicate with other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Able to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Other Skills and Responsibilities:

Knowledge of and able to apply computers and related software, such as spreadsheet, work processing, CAD (DraftSite or AutoCAD), etc., to the solution of engineering problems.
