Job summary

Henderson Products Inc. in Iowa seeks an Engineer to develop configurable CAD models, documentation, and truck package layouts. You should have 3-5 years of design experience including some structural analysis and design for manufacturing.

This role focuses on continuous improvement of engineering processes to deliver high-quality shop-floor documentation for a customized product. You will communicate design intent, perform troubleshooting with shop floor personnel, and participate in prototype

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field required.
  • 3-5 years design experience with solids-based CAD tools and basic stress analysis.
  • 3-5 years ERP/MRP experience in low volume/high mix environments.
  • Mechanical aptitude with root cause analysis capability.
  • MS Office proficiency (Excel/Word) and manufacturing software knowledge.
  • Strong organizational, detail, and follow-up skills.
  • Proven leadership ability to guide others without direct authority.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience with hydraulically driven equipment and electrical control systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Project management of new product development projects.
  • Create and maintain detailed part, assembly, and truck layout drawings.
  • Develop and maintain item master, BOMs, descriptions, and routings.
  • Support sales on bid requests including cost estimates and design input liaison.
  • Select materials and purchased items in collaboration with multiple departments.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:

As an Engineer with Henderson Products you will help develop configurable custom CAD models, documentation, and truck package layouts.. You should have 3-5 years of design experience including some structural analysis and design for manufacturing examples. This role will work on the continuous improvement of our engineering processes to provide consistent high quality documentation to the shop floor with a highly customized product. Communication of design intent, documentation, and troubleshooting with shop floor personnel is common. Some testing and hands on prototype assembly may be involved, along with the following:

  • Project management of new product development projects.
  • Creation and ongoing maintenance of detailed piece part, assembly, and truck layout drawings.
  • Development and maintenance of item master, bills of material, product descriptions and routings.
  • Support sales on bid requests including cost estimates and liaison for design input.
  • Selection of materials and purchased items falls under the leadership and responsibility of our design engineering department in cooperation with sales, marketing, sourcing and various operations groups.

WHAT THIS ROLE NEEDS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Related Engineering field experience required.
  • 3-5 years direct experience with using solids based CAD design tools including basic stress analysis
  • 3-5 years direct experience with ERP/MRP systems, preferably in a low volume/high mix environment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and proficiency in identifying and eliminating root cause of issues
  • Technological skills required with knowledge of operation’s manufacturing software, as well as Microsoft products, including Excel and Word in Windows environment.
  • Organizational, detail, and follow-up skills.
  • Leadership: a demonstrated ability to lead people without authority and get results through others.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a strong team player.
  • Experience with hydraulically driven equipment and electrical control systems is a plus.
