Qualifications

• SolidWorks experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Manage, mentor, and provide technical direction to a team of 4 Design Engineers.
• Oversee mechanical design projects from concept through completion.
• Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, and specifications.
• Design and develop machinery, tooling, fixtures, and/or manufacturing equipment.
• Ensure designs are practical for machine operation, production, maintenance, and operator interaction.
• Work closely with manufacturing, production, and other departments to resolve design and equipment issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment functionality, reliability, safety, and ease of use.
• Manage engineering priorities, timelines, and project workloads.
• Remain hands‑on technically when needed and assist the team with complex design challenges.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Engineering / Design Manager to lead a team of Design Engineers and oversee the design and development of manufacturing equipment and tooling. This person will be responsible for both managing the engineering team and staying closely involved in the technical design process.

The ideal candidate will have experience with thermoforming equipment or processes, although candidates with strong injection molding experience will also be considered. This role requires someone who understands not only how to design equipment, but also how the machine will actually operate in a production environment and how operators will interact with it.

Responsibilities:

• Manage, mentor, and provide technical direction to a team of 4 Design Engineers
• Oversee mechanical design projects from concept through completion
• Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, and specifications
• Design and develop machinery, tooling, fixtures, and/or manufacturing equipment
• Ensure designs are practical for machine operation, production, maintenance, and operator interaction
• Work closely with manufacturing, production, and other departments to resolve design and equipment issues

Qualifications:

• Previous experience leading or managing Design/Mechanical Engineers
• Strong mechanical design and machine/equipment design background
• SolidWorks experience is required
• Thermoforming experience strongly preferred
• Injection molding experience will be considered in place of thermoforming
• Strong understanding of machine functionality and manufacturing processes
• Experience designing with the operator/end user in mind
• Ability to take a machine or system from concept/design through implementation
• Strong problem-solving, project management, and leadership skills
