Job summary

South Jersey Industries is seeking an Engineering Design Intern for a 11-week Ignite Internship Program in Union, NJ. The role supports Design Engineers on gas distribution projects, with hybrid work arrangements and mentorship opportunities.

The intern will collect facility records, create designs, and participate in site visits, gaining hands-on experience in a growing utility environment.

Qualifications

• Completion of at least 2 years of coursework toward a BS in Engineering (Mechanical or Civil preferred).
• Knowledge of PC-based applications.
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD or other CAD software.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Collect, research and interpret existing facility records as part of the design process.
• Perform design of various types of natural gas distribution projects.
• Create construction plans using AutoCAD.
• Field/site visits to construction projects.
• Organize documents and analyze data.
• Perform other special projects and assignments as required.
