Job summary

The Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering (IME) Department at California Polytechnic State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in data analytics and AI beginning August 12, 2027. Qualifications

• Earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in industrial engineering, operations research, or closely related field from an accredited institution or international equivalent.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and communication and ability to work with diverse students, staff, and faculty.
• Ability to develop externally funded, applied research programs involving undergraduates and graduate students.
• Strong hands-on, student-centered teaching and collaborative skills in multidisciplinary settings.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and masters level courses in industrial engineering.
• Develop and expand curricular offerings in data analytics and AI.
• Lead and participate in externally funded research with students and partners.
• Engage in service activities at department, college, and university levels.
