Job summary

Cal Poly's Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Department invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position starting approximately August 12, 2027.

We seek a candidate with specialization in data analytics and artificial intelligence, with interests in healthcare, manufacturing, transportation or energy. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and master's courses, curricular development, and scholarly research.

Qualifications

• Earned doctorate in industrial engineering, operations research, or closely related field.
• Excellence in teaching, effective communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to develop externally funded, applied research with undergrad/grad students.
• Hands-on, student-centered learning; collaborative, multidisciplinary work.
• Excellent written and oral communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and master's level courses.
• Support and expand curricular development in industrial engineering.
• Engage in scholarly work of high quality and external peer review.
• Perform service activities at multiple university levels.
• Collaborate with colleagues on multidisciplinary initiatives.
