Engineering Construction Manager (Data Centers)
Location: Hubbard, TX | Travel to Site M-F
The Opportunity
We are supporting a major construction program in Central Texas and are looking for an experienced Engineering Construction Manager to lead the technical coordination between design, construction, procurement, and field execution.
This position is ideal for someone who has managed the engineering side of large-scale industrial, power, mission-critical, data center, or similarly complex construction projects. The role will be heavily involved in resolving design issues, driving technical decisions, coordinating multiple disciplines, and making sure construction teams have accurate information when they need it.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Lead day-to-day engineering coordination between the project team, designers, contractors, vendors, and field personnel.
- Manage the flow and resolution of RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, design revisions, technical queries, and construction documents.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design issues involving structural steel, building envelope, foundations, penetrations, HVAC, plumbing, electrical interfaces, fire protection, interiors, and equipment installation.
- Identify constructability issues early and work with engineering and construction teams to develop practical field solutions.
- Coordinate technical requirements affecting procurement, fabrication, installation, and construction milestones.
- Track engineering deliverables and critical approvals against project and material-needed dates.
- Participate in BIM and multidisciplinary coordination reviews to resolve clashes and interface issues before they impact field execution.
- Ensure construction teams are working from the latest approved drawings, specifications, and technical information.
- Support field engineering activities, inspections, as-built documentation, commissioning, and final turnover.
- Review proposed design changes and communicate potential impacts to scope, cost, schedule, procurement, quality, and constructability.
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to Project Engineers and Field Engineers.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related technical field.
- 8+ years of engineering, construction, or design-coordination experience supporting complex capital projects.
- Previous experience leading engineers or technical project teams.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- RFIs and submittals
- Engineering drawings and specifications
- Shop drawings
- Constructability reviews
- Design-change management
- Technical document control
- Comfortable working directly with construction teams and solving technical issues in an active project environment.
Highly Relevant Experience
Candidates coming from large industrial construction, power generation, mission-critical facilities, data centers, advanced manufacturing, or other technically complex projects will be especially relevant.
Experience coordinating multiple MEP and structural disciplines, supporting commissioning/turnover, or working within an EPC/EPCM project environment is also highly applicable.
