Job summary

Kadant Inc. is seeking an engineering co-op intern to support R&D and design activities. You will assist in new product development, perform calculations, conduct tests, and write lab reports under the supervision of the Facilities Manager.

The role emphasizes hands-on drafting using SolidWorks and AutoCAD, data analysis, and clear engineering documentation. Strong communication and basic MS Office skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
• Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or other drafting software.
• Ability to perform tests, analyze data, and create lab reports.
• Strong understanding of basic mechanical and electrical principals.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Basic/intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Assist in new product development and design improvements.
• Perform hand calculations and assist R&D team in testing.
• Write lab reports and analyze data.
• Create and update SolidWorks models, assemblies, drawings, and simulations.
• Participate in weekly meetings and report project progress to Engineering Management.
• Organize engineering files and update drawings as needed.
