The internship runs January 2027 through June 2027, requiring 40 hours per week; candidates should be enrolled full-time in Biomedical, Mechanical Engineering or Bioengineering and possess good communication skills.

Qualifications

• Enrolled as a full-time student pursuing an engineering degree. Senior in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering or Bioengineering preferred.
• Recent graduates must be within six months of graduation to qualify.
• Prior CAD software experience, such as SolidWorks, is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support Shaver product line in developing and designing new products, testing fixtures and analyzing problems.
• Utilize SolidWorks to create models and engineering drawings of prototype parts.
• Design and print 3D test fixtures.
• Analyze drawings and tolerances as needed.
• Perform engineering testing and write reports based on findings.
• Other duties as assigned

Engineering Co-op - Product Development - Shaver

Arthrex, Inc. is a global medical device company and a leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. Arthrex is actively searching for an engineering student, preferably pursuing a degree in Biomedical, Mechanical Engineering or Bioengineering, to support the Imaging and Resection team (I&R) in Naples, FL. This co-op will support the ongoing design and engineering activities for the I&R product portfolio. The ideal candidate will know SolidWorks or similar CAD software experience, understand engineering fundamentals, and have interpersonal skills. This Co-op will run from January 2027 – June 2027. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Naples, FL facility.

Main Objective:

To gain experience in research, design, testing, and manufacturing of Arthrex’s shaver product line.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support our Shaver product line in developing and designing new products, testing fixtures and analyzing problems.


• Utilize SolidWorks to create models and engineering drawings of prototype parts.


• Design and print 3D test fixtures.


• Analyze drawings and tolerances as needed.


• Perform engineering testing and write reports based on findings.


• Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

• Enrolled as a full-time student pursuing an engineering degree or a recent graduate within the last six months required. Senior in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering or Bioengineering preferred.
  (Recent graduates must be within six months of their graduation date to qualify.)

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

• Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing and possess the ability to work through technical issues.


• Prior experience with CAD software, such as SolidWorks, preferred.

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

Knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation, mechanical testing equipment, PC.
