Arthrex, Inc. in Naples, FL is seeking a Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering student for the Foot & Ankle and Trauma Engineering co-op. You will design orthopedic devices using CAD (Creo and SolidWorks), assist in cadaver labs, coordinate prototyping, and help engineers with documentation.

This 6-month co-op runs January 2027 through June 2027, requiring 40 hours per week at our Naples facility. It aims to develop technical proficiency and soft skills for an entry-level engineering position.

Qualifications

• Enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering; juniors or above preferred.
• CAD experience with Creo and/or SolidWorks required.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel) is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Determine tests to evaluate product performance.
• Assist CAD modeling, DHF documentation, analysis, and testing.
• Execute design ECOs in the PLM system.
• Support cadaver lab and cross-functional teams in product development.

Arthrex, Inc. is a global medical device company and a leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. Arthrex is actively searching for a student pursuing a Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering degree to support the Foot & Ankle and Trauma Engineering team in Naples, FL. The Foot & Ankle and Trauma product development team is responsible for the design and development of all foot, ankle and trauma implants and respective instruments. The successful candidate will help design orthopedic devices using CAD (SolidWorks and/or Creo), assist in cadaver labs, help coordinate prototyping, and assist engineers with documentation. The individual must be able to perform the assigned tasks accurately and in a timely manner, be detail oriented, able to communicate effectively, accountable and have some CAD knowledge. Main Objective:

To develop an engineering student in technical proficiency and soft skills to a level suitable for an entry-level engineering position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Determine types of tests to be performed to adequately evaluate product performance.
• Assist with CAD modeling, Design History Files (DHF) documentation, research, strength analysis, functional testing, and failure analysis.
• Execute design ECOs within the product lifecycle management (PLM) system.
• Provide support to cadaver lab, peers, project team members, and other departments with new product development, product line extensions, and product enhancements.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a bachelor's degree in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering, or a recent Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering graduate required. Junior or above preferred.
  (Recent graduates must be within six months of their graduation date to qualify.)

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

• Basic to intermediate computer skills. Be able to follow written and verbal direction.
• Experience with CAD required. Creo and/or SolidWorks preferred

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel. Fax; Scanner.
