Arthrex, Inc. is seeking a student to join the Design Quality Engineering (DQE) team as a co-op in Naples, FL. The position supports Market Product Initiation and remediation activities, contributing to design controls and product lifecycle documentation.

The role emphasizes risk management, V&V, and continuous improvement within a global medical device company. The co-op runs January 2027 through June 2027, requiring 40 hours per week at the Naples facility.

Qualifications

• Enrolled as a full-time student pursuing an engineering degree.
• Junior or above, studying Biomedical, Mechanical Engineering or Bioengineering preferred.
• Ability to interpret technical instructions in math/diagram form and manage variables.
• Ability to write and record data as required by procedures.

Responsibilities

• Design baseline and risk remediation activities including updating DTM and DFMEAs.
• Identify, update, and route documents for release within Arthrex PLM system.
• Support MPI projects: Design Control Documentation, Quality Plans, PPAP, engineering changes, complaints analysis, and DCRs.
• Assist in transitioning to a new management system by performing data reviews in the new software.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Engineering Co-op - Design Quality - Lower Extremities

Arthrex, Inc. is a global medical device company and a leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. Arthrex is actively searching for a student pursuing an engineering degree to support the Design Quality Engineering (DQE) team based in Naples, FL. The DQE team provides expertise in risk management, product quality, process control, verification & validation (V&V), and continuous improvement. DQEs incorporate quality methods and tools, including applied statistics and external standards, to design experiments, develop test protocols, conduct investigations, and improve products and processes. The individual chosen for this position will assist in these activities as a part of new product introduction, sustaining activities, and non-conformance investigations. This co-op will run from January 2027 – June 2027. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Naples, FL facility.

Main Objective:

To support the Design Quality Engineers (DQEs) with their Market Product Initiation (MPI) and Remediation Projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design baseline and risk management remediation activities, including modifying and updating Design Traceability Matrix (DTM) and Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (dFMEAs), risk trace updates, and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) documentation and routing.
• Partner with Design and Quality Design Engineers to identify, update, and route documents for release within the Arthrex PLM system.
• Support MPI projects, including Design Control Documentation, Quality Plans, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) development, Engineering Change Reviews, complaints analysis, and Documentation Change Reviews (DCR).
• Support transition to a new management system by conducting data reviews in the new software.
• Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

• Enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a degree in engineering required. Junior or above, studying Biomedical, Mechanical Engineering or Bioengineering preferred.
  (Recent graduates must be within six months of their graduation date to qualify.)

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Ability to write and record data and information as required by procedures.

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
