Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking an Engineering Development Co‑Op to be in San Lorenzo and Manatí, PR. The program runs January through December, 2027, with full‑time hours (40 hours per week) and four vacancies across two sites.

You will support engineering teams through hands‑on projects, CAD work, data analysis, and documentation while gaining practical product development experience in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at an accredited University is required.
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, industrial, chemical, or manufacturing engineering.
  • GPA of 2.8 or higher across college coursework.
  • Must be enrolled as a full‑time student throughout the Co‑Op.

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers with design, prototyping, testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Support CAD modeling and simple design updates under guidance.
  • Conduct experiments, collect data, and summarize results for teams.
  • Prepare engineering drawings and test reports.
  • Support manufacturing, lab, or shop floor activities as needed.
  • Participate in team meetings and present project progress.

We are searching for the best talent for Engineering Development Co-Op to be in San Lorenzo and Manatí PR.


  • The Co-op term is from January to December, 2027.

Purpose:

The Engineering Co-Op will support engineering teams through hands-on project work, testing, documentation, and process improvement activities while gaining practical experience in product development and manufacturing environments. This role provides exposure to engineering principles, cross-functional collaboration, and real-world problem-solving.


You will be responsible:

  • Assisting engineers with design, prototyping, testing, validation, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Supporting CAD modeling and implementing simple design updates under guidance.
  • Conducting experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and summarizing results for engineering teams.
  • Preparing and maintaining technical documentation, engineering drawings, and test reports.
  • Supporting manufacturing, laboratory, or shop floor activities as needed.
  • Participating in team meetings and presenting project progress and findings.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support engineering initiatives and continuous improvement projects.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at an accredited University is required.
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related engineering fields.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher, which is reflective of all college coursework.
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering fundamentals and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar tools is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be enrolled as a full‑time student throughout the duration of the Co‑Op assignment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous internship, laboratory, manufacturing, research, or project experience.
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as Python, MATLAB, or Excel.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to diverse audiences.

Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long‑term status that does not require company sponsorship.
