You will be operating a variety of machines including CNC lathes, CNC miller, capstan lathe, grinders, and thread rollers. You will be learning to operate in a safe manner, gradually learning how to set competently. This Apprenticeship ensures you complete on and off the job training elements for the standard and at the end of the journey will complete a level 3 apprenticeship as a machining technician.
As a part-time apprentice on this pathway you will complete 14 months (2.5 days a week) at In-Comm training academy in Telford Unit 5A T54 Business Park Nedge Hill, and attend Telford Plastics 2.5 days a week.
Once the 14 months in-house training has been completed you will continue to attend the academy for ½ day a week to complete the technical training element of the programme.
You will also receive assessor visits at your place of work once a month to support you to demonstrate and evidence the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for your apprenticeship.
You will complete a full week induction at the start of your apprenticeship during this time you will be learning and understanding the importance of Health and Safety within the workplace where you will gain qualifications in IOSH working safely, manual handling and abrasive wheels.
Once your assessor visits start on the job you will complete work-based learning activities where you will maintain an electronic logbook over the duration of the apprenticeship period, recording projects and documenting work that has been undertaken and the skills learned. You have an assessor who will complete workplace assessment visits and observations.
