Job summary

Oregon State University is seeking energetic, motivated students to fill multiple part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Career Assistant positions in the College of Engineering at OSU. The role supports student professional development, career education, and campus program coordination.

Responsibilities include career advising, event coordination, managing Handshake/Beaver Hub, and delivering excellent customer service to thousands of stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.
• Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.
• High School student: Regularly enrolled in high school or home-schooling program; Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students: 6 credit hours per term.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily advising to peers on career development topics.
• Support planning and execution of Career Center events including fairs, networking sessions, and employer info sessions.
• Manage Handshake and Beaver Hub activity; respond to student questions, schedule appointments, and manage event pages.
• Be first point of contact for in-person and remote visitors and uphold high customer-service standards.
• Lead professional development presentations for the COE Career Center.
• Perform reception tasks: answer phones, emails, and customer queries.
• Foster an inclusive, welcoming environment for visitors to the COE Career Center and events (virtual and in person).
• Support staff with administrative tasks and assist in hiring/training student employees.
• Attend and participate in regular staff trainings.
