Job summary

People Driven Technology, Inc is seeking an Engineering Assistant, Physical Security to support technical design and project delivery across our security practice. You will prepare CAD drawings, system diagrams, hardware submittals, as-built documentation, and closeout packages for phased construction projects.

The role requires interpreting physical security architectures and translating field data into professional deliverables, with strong Autodesk and document-control skills.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certificate or equivalent experience.
• Two+ years in physical security, low-voltage systems, or similar design environments.
• Ability to read construction drawings, floor plans, cabling and product docs.
• Proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD; Revit a plus.
• Experience with Bluebeam, Excel, Word, Outlook, and document control tools.
• Familiarity with access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and network infrastructure.
• Experience with Procore or Textura is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create CAD drawings, floor plans, risers, wiring and system diagrams using Autodesk tools.
• Translate design information into coordinated deliverables and RFP submittals.
• Prepare as-built drawings, submittals, shop drawings, and closeout packages.
• Maintain drawing standards, templates, and version control.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Operations Lead, and cross-functional teams.
• Identify information gaps and project risks; communicate status and deadlines.

Engineering Assistant, Physical Security

We are looking for an Engineering Assistant, Physical Security to support technical design and project delivery across our physical security practice and all markets. In this role you would prepare CAD drawings, system diagrams, hardware submittals, as-built documentation, and closeout packages for RFP responses and other phased-construction projects . The ideal candidate can interpret physical security system architecture, including devices, risers, cabling, and related infrastructure, and translate field and design information into accurate, professional deliverables.

What You Would Do

Create CAD and Technical Design Deliverables

• Produce and revise physical security CAD drawings, floor plans, risers, wiring and cable diagrams, device layouts, system diagrams, and details using Autodesk tools and company standards.
• Translate project drawings, specifications, product data, system architecture, field conditions, and engineering direction into coordinated deliverables.
• Apply approved changes, substitutions, updates, and redlines; maintain drawing standards, templates, and production tools while recommending improvements.

Prepare Submittals, As-Builts, and Closeout Packages

• Prepare, quality-check, and submit hardware submittals, shop drawings, product data, system diagrams, transmittals, and related packages.
• Produce final as-built drawings and closeout documentation from approved designs, field updates, test records, and customer requirements.
• Manage revisions, approvals, issue dates, naming conventions, and version control while supporting RFP and phased-construction workflows.

Maintain Document Control

• Coordinate with Project Managers and the Operations Lead to align drawing, submittal, and closeout production with project schedules and progress updates.
• Maintain project folders, drawing and submittal logs, approval records, shared-system information, and construction-management portal content.
• Communicate status, responsibilities, next steps, and deadlines; participate in coordination meetings and cross-functional handoffs.
• Identify and elevate missing information, delayed reviews, vendor issues, conflicting direction, and other project risks.

Support Quality and Process Improvement

• Review deliverables for completeness, technical accuracy, legibility, formatting, revision accuracy, coordination, and alignment with project requirements.
• Maintain standard drawing, submittal, transmittal, coversheet, and closeout templates in coordination with Marketing and approved branding guidelines.
• Develop practical checklists and repeatable workflows, and protect confidential project, customer, vendor, pricing, and technical information.

What We Are Looking For

• An associate degree, technical certificate, or equivalent experience in drafting, engineering technology, physical security, low-voltage systems, building automation, construction technology, or a related field.
• Two or more years of hands-on experience in physical security, low-voltage systems, building automation, electrical systems, construction technology, or a comparable technical design environment. Direct physical security experience is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with Autodesk applications such as AutoCAD; experience with Revit or comparable tools is a plus.
• The ability to read and apply construction drawings, floor plans, risers, cabling information, product documentation, specifications, schedules, redlines, and technical correspondence.
• Experience supporting submittals, shop drawings, product data, as-built documents, system diagrams, or construction closeout packages.
• Working proficiency with Bluebeam for markups, reviews, comparisons, and PDF package preparation, along with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, shared document repositories, and virtual meeting software.
• Familiarity with access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, intercom, and related network infrastructure.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, communication, follow-through, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines while escalating issues appropriately.
• Experience supporting K-12, municipal, commercial, or phased-construction projects.
• Experience with Procore, Textura, or similar construction-management platforms.
