Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation is seeking an Engineering Assistant at multiple levels to perform engineering work across design, construction, inspection, and survey activities. The role emphasizes professional licensing/registration through dedicated training and exams, with supervision by licensed engineers for final project approvals.

Eligible candidates will participate in the Engineering Assistant Career Development Program (EACDP) and may rotate through disciplines, gaining experience

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science; higher degrees may substitute for bachelor’s.
• Substitutions: Master’s or Doctoral degree with ABET accreditation may substitute for Bachelor’s.

Responsibilities

• Apply engineering principles to transportation activities.
• Prepare PS&E and designs, review plans.
• Assist in survey activities and data collection.
• Lead, train, and support less experienced staff in limits of the role.
• Participate in the Engineering Assistant Career Development Program (EACDP).
