Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation in Atlanta District seeks Engineering Assistants I–III to join a structured training program supporting licensing toward professional engineering certification. You will rotate through design, construction inspection, surveying, and environmental tasks while supervised by licensed engineers.

The role emphasizes PS&E development, data collection, drafting, and collaboration with contractors and local officials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science; ABET accreditation substitutions may apply.
• Note: December 2026 graduation allowed if proof provided before start date.
• Engineering licensure path through TX PELS or PE exams may be pursued after joining.

Responsibilities

• Actively prepares for professional engineering licensing/registration through training and exams.
• Applies engineering principles to transportation-related activities.
• Assist during emergencies and inclement weather.
• Create PS&E and supporting drawings/exhibits for public involvement.
• Review plans prepared by consultants; use CAD and design programs.
