Job summary
Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Corpus Christi District seeks Engineering Assistant I, II or III to support the Central Design Office with design and drafting tasks across transportation projects. The role offers development toward professional licensure as you rotate through design, maintenance, and inspection activities.
Successful candidates will engage in training, 3D design work, and collaboration with engineers, contractors, and local agencies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (or higher with substitutions)
- Valid driver's license required
- Safety Impact Certificate (SIC) upon hire
- Passing PE exam may substitute for experience
- One year of engineering-related experience for II, two years for III (I requires none)
Responsibilities
- Actively pursues engineering licensing/registration through training and exams
- Performs engineering calculations and drafting/design work
- Uses automated roadway/structural/hydraulic design programs and CAD systems
- Design activity supervised by a licensed professional engineer
- Trains and mentors others in the Engineering Assistant Career Development Program
