Job summary

DAS Aviation is seeking an Engineering Assistant to develop FAA 8110-2 data and assist in researching repair processes. You will bridge engineering and production by creating planning documents and aiding technicians with blueprints and drawings.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in aircraft maintenance, can read blueprints, and communicate effectively in English. This role emphasizes teamwork, accuracy, and adherence to procedures in a fast-paced shop.

Responsibilities

  • Develop data and substantiation for FAA 8110-2 approvals.
  • Research processes for modification, repair, and alteration of aircraft components.
  • Create and verify work order planning documents for accuracy.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and procedures for shop personnel.
  • Provide direct support to the Engineering Manager as needed.
  • Communicate clearly in English.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

What you can expect as an Engineering Assistant at DAS Aviation

In this role, you will be instrumental in developing technical data for FAA 8110-2 approvals and researching complex repair processes. You will bridge the gap between engineering and production by creating work order planning documents and helping shop technicians interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including
  • FAA Compliance: Develop technical data and substantiation required for FAA 8110-2 Approval.
  • Process Research: Conduct research on specific processes and procedures for the modification, repair, and alteration of aircraft components.
  • Technical Documentation: Create and verify work order planning documents to ensure operational accuracy.
  • Shop Support: Interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical procedures for shop personnel to facilitate component repairs.
  • Managerial Assistance: Provide direct support to the Engineering Manager by performing delegated tasks and aiding in departmental duties as needed.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English.
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
What you’ll need to bring with you:
Your Education:
  • A High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.
Your Experience:
  • An A&P license is preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in aircraft or component maintenance.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Your Initiative:
  • We’re looking for team players who are self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common.
  • This person will need to have strong attention to detail, be well organized, and able to prioritize workload efficiently.
Your Sense of Responsibility:
  • Attend work every day as scheduled.
  • Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.
  • Must have reliable transportation to get to work each day.
  • Work in a team environment.
  • Self-starter.
  • Required to follow all processes and procedures in a timely manner.

Physical Requirements:
  • Lift and carry up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Walk moderate distances as required.
  • Basic personal computer operations.

  • Prioritize workload and work under pressure.
