Job summary

State of West Virginia seeks a professional engineer to join the Office of Abandoned Mine Lands and Reclamation (AML&R) in the Design Section. The role covers a broad range of engineering services for reclamation projects, under limited supervision in Charleston or Fayetteville offices.

You will design, review, and monitor construction plans, analyze feasibility and economics, and ensure compliance with standards. A valid driver's license and proficiency with AutoCAD and GIS are required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering required or ABET-accredited equivalent.
Experience: zero to five years of engineering experience; Master’s degree can substitute for two years of experience.
Valid driver’s license required.
Computer literate with ability to learn AutoCAD and GIS software.

Responsibilities

Perform professional engineer work in a wide variety of engineering services for AML&R projects.
Monitor design plans, analyze feasibility, economics, standards, and reclamation objectives.
Oversee technical correctness and quality control; evaluate geo-technical conditions and determine project scope.
