Job summary

CenterPoint Energy in Houston seeks a Strategic Sourcing Specialist — Engineered Equipment to execute defined category work in transformers, switchgear, and related materials. You will manage sourcing events, supplier relationships, and contracts, ensuring compliance and timely delivery for capital projects while coordinating with Engineering, Construction, Project Management, and Operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of procurement or sourcing experience.
• Experience with RFQ/RFP events and bid evaluation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP or equivalent ERP.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute RFQ/RFP packages for assigned engineered equipment sub-categories.
• Manage the supplier Q&A and clarification process for assigned sourcing events.
• Conduct bid evaluation for assigned categories including weighted scoring, price comparison, and basic total cost of ownership analysis.
• Draft award documentation and ensure it is complete and reviewable.
• Support multi-round negotiation processes including bid summaries and counter-offer tracking.
• Manage working-level supplier relationships and track performance against contracts.
• Assist in development of supplier performance scorecards and participate in QBRs.
• Escalate supplier performance issues and supply risk signals with clear context and recommended paths.
• Monitor market conditions and develop spend analyses for assigned categories.
• Maintain lead time data and update team trackers as timelines change.
