Lilly is currently constructing an advanced manufacturing facility in Lebanon, IN, for API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient) production. This site represents Lilly's largest investment in manufacturing capacity and aims to supply APIs for current and future products, including new modalities. This is a unique opportunity to join the startup team for a greenfield manufacturing site, helping to establish processes and facilities for successful GMP manufacturing operations.

We are seeking Engineers - Utilities and Environmental Control (ECU) to support the API manufacturing business in Lebanon. These roles will focus on gray and clean utilities; environmental control engineers will oversee tank farm operations, air emissions systems, and solvent recovery systems. These core engineering roles are vital for delivering our product pipeline across batch and continuous API production and development.

Responsibilities

Facility Start-Up:

  1. Provide engineering support to the global facility delivery team, focusing on right-first-time, on-schedule startup activities such as design reviews, process safety assessments, user requirements, C&Q support, unit operation shakedown, startup, and operational readiness.
  2. Define and own aspects of the integrated operational readiness plan, including SOP development, maintenance strategy, automation optimization, safety reviews, alarm requirements, and qualification protocols.
  3. Own the qualification status of equipment within your responsibility area.
  4. Develop and implement control strategies for utilities and ECU systems to support manufacturing operations.
  5. Support initial operations training as the equipment SME.

Facility Operations:

  1. Support utilities and ECU operations applying chemical and mechanical engineering fundamentals.
  2. Monitor, assess, and document equipment performance to maintain qualification.
  3. Develop safety bases for equipment as needed.
  4. Integrate modeling, simulation, and analysis to enhance process understanding and control.
  5. Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities as part of cross-functional teams.
  6. Use root cause analysis to investigate issues and implement effective corrective actions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Biomedical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of relevant manufacturing experience, preferably in chemical or pharmaceutical sectors.
