Lilly is constructing an advanced manufacturing facility in Lebanon, IN, for API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient) production. This site represents Lilly’s largest investment in manufacturing capacity, supporting current and future products, including new modalities. This is a unique opportunity to join the startup team for a greenfield manufacturing site, helping to establish processes and facilities for GMP manufacturing operations.

We Are Seeking Engineers - Utilities and Environmental Control (ECU)

These engineers will support the API manufacturing in Lebanon, focusing on gray and clean utilities. Environmental Control Engineers will oversee tank farm operations, air emissions systems, and solvent recovery systems. These roles are essential for delivering our product pipeline across batch and continuous API production and development.

Responsibilities
Facility Start-Up:
  • Support the global facility delivery team, focusing on schedule and first-time right startup activities, including design reviews, safety assessments, user requirements, C&Q support, unit operation shakedown, startup, and operational readiness.
  • Define and own aspects of the operational readiness plan, such as SOP development, maintenance strategies, automation, safety reviews, alarm requirements, and performance qualification protocols.
  • Ensure equipment is qualified and maintained in a qualified state.
  • Develop and implement control strategies for utilities and ECU systems to support manufacturing.
  • Support initial operations training as the equipment and area SME.
Facility Operations:
  • Provide engineering support for utilities and ECU operations, applying chemical and mechanical engineering principles.
  • Monitor and assess equipment performance, maintaining qualification status.
  • Develop safety bases for equipment.
  • Incorporate mechanistic modeling, process simulation, and analysis to enhance process understanding and control.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Use root cause analysis to resolve process and equipment issues, delivering sustainable corrective actions.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Biomedical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 3 years of relevant manufacturing experience, preferably in chemical or pharmaceutical industries.
Additional Skills/Preferences
  • Strong technical understanding of chemical engineering principles.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within diverse teams.
  • Creativity and initiative to identify and implement improvements.

Compensation for this position ranges from $64,500 to $167,200, depending on experience and location. Benefits include a 401(k), pension, health coverage, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, time off, and well-being programs. Lilly reserves the right to modify these programs as needed.
