Job summary

Horner & Shifrin, Inc. is seeking a full-time, entry-level Civil Engineer to join our Transportation unit in Illinois. The role requires 0-2 years of experience and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.

You will assist in PS&E development, 3D modeling for construction, and coordinating with municipal, county, and state agencies. Candidate should have strong communication skills, be proficient with Microsoft Office, and may work with MicroStation, PowerGeopak SS4/OpenRoads Designer, or

Qualifications

• Bachelor level civil engineering degree required.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work under supervision.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) and willingness to undergo background check.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision of a licensed engineer, develop PS&E (plans, specs, estimates).
• Prepare quality 3D models for design for construction phase.
• Work with team on municipal, county and state transportation projects.
• Assist in preparing reports and feasibility studies.
• Complete assigned tasks within project deadlines.

Job description

Horner & Shifrin is seeking a full-time Engineer to work in our Transportation business unit. This is an entry-level position and requires 0-2 years of experience.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

• Candidate will work under a licensed engineer
• Responsible for the development of engineering plans, specifications and estimates (PS&E)
• Prepare quality 3D models for design to be used by clients in the construction phase
• Work as part of a team to complete general transportation engineering services for municipal, county and state agencies
• Assist in the preparation of reports and feasibility studies
• Responsible for the completion of assigned tasks within a project

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proficient in use of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Excel, Word)
• Knowledge of MicroStation and PowerGeoPAK SS4/OpenRoads Designer, or AutoCAD Civil 3D (preferred)
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• Must complete a background check

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering

SALARY RANGE:

Horner & Shifrin, Inc. offers a comprehensive total rewards package and is committed to fair, competitive, market-based compensation. The target salary range for this position is $65,000 to $91,000. Compensation for the successful candidate will consider the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, and geographic location.
