Job summary

ORBIS seeks a senior engineer to support NAVSEA Team Submarine program offices (PMS 397, PMS 450, PMS 351, SEA 05Z) and related organizations in submarine research, development, acquisition, and maintenance.

The role involves overseeing hybrid software/hardware/web product creation, integrating diverse systems, and managing end-to-end development cycles with attention to cost and schedules. A Master’s in Engineering, US citizenship, and a Secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Over 10 years of professional experience in systems engineering.
• Experience with DOD ACAT 1D Navy acquisition programs preferred.
• Experience in submarine Combat System engineering, studies and analyses, and Navy program documentation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the creation of hybrid software, web and hardware products from initial specifications to final rollout and maintenance.
• Integrate various network operating systems, application programs and hardware devices.
• Manage the development cycle for a resilient software, hardware and web application from design to testing and maintenance.

• Provide support to NAVSEA Team Submarine (TEAM SUB) Submarine Ship Building (SHAPM) Program Offices and supporting organizations: PMS 397 - COLUMBIA Class Submarine Program Office, PMS 450 - VIRGINIA Class Submarine Program Office, PMS 351 - Future Attack Submarine (SSN(X)) Program Office, and SEA 05Z - Marine Engineering Competency Domain.
• TEAM SUB is a combination of Program Executive Office (PEO) Strategic Submarine (PEO SSBN), PEO Attack Submarines (PEO SSN), and PEO Undersea Warfare Systems (PEO UWS) and the Direct Reporting Program Office, AUKUS Integration & Acquisition Office (AUKUS). The TEAM SUB concept divides the single submarine-centric organization into specific PEOs with the goal of enhancing the structures and processes in the submarine research, development, acquisition, and maintenance communities.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Oversee the creation of hybrid software, web and hardware products from initial specifications to final rollout and maintenance.
• Integrate various network operating systems, application programs and hardware devices.
• Manage the development cycle associated with producing a resilient software, hardware and web application, including: specification, design, coding, testing and maintenance.
• Manage the "big picture" of a project in addition to technical aspects by considering details like cost, schedules and social issues that may be associated with a project.
• Typical Experience: 10 years of professional experience in systems engineering.
• Desired: Min 10 yrs experience with DOD ACAT 1D Navy acquisition programs.
• Desired: Demonstrated experience in program planning and technical management support, submarine Combat System System Engineering (SE), studies and analyses, acquisition program documentation, metrics, organizational protocol, and Navy business systems.

Degree Requirements:

• Typical Education: Master's level degree in an Engineering discipline.
• Must be a U.S.
• A secret security clearance
