Job summary

A United States non-profit organization is seeking an experienced engineer to provide support to the NAVSEA Team Submarine in various submarine shipbuilding programs. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in engineering, particularly within the defense sector, along with a Bachelor's degree and a secret security clearance. This position requires a strong understanding of submarine acquisition and environmental impact analysis.

Qualifications

  • 7 years of professional experience in engineering.
  • 10 years with DOD ACAT ID Acquisition Programs.
  • 5 years Navy experience with submarine technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Support NAVSEA Team Submarine in shipbuilding programs.
  • Supervise production and maintain quality in testing.
  • Research and develop economical solutions to technical problems.
  • Supervise testing, production, or maintenance to ensure quality.
  • Estimate time and cost to complete projects.

Job Description:
  • Provide support to NAVSEA Team Submarine (TEAM SUB) Submarine Ship Building (SHAPM) Program Offices and supporting organizations: PMS 397 - COLUMBIA Class Submarine Program Office, PMS 450 - VIRGINIA Class Submarine Program Office, PMS 351 - Future Attack Submarine (SSN(X)) Program Office, and SEA 05Z - Marine Engineering Competency Domain.
  • TEAM SUB is a combination of Program Executive Office (PEO) Strategic Submarine (PEO SSBN), PEO Attack Submarines (PEO SSN), and PEO Undersea Warfare Systems (PEO UWS) and the Direct Reporting Program Office, AUKUS Integration & Acquisition Office (AUKUS). The TEAM SUB concept divides the single submarine-centric organization into specific PEOs with the goal of enhancing the structures processes in the submarine research, development, acquisition, and maintenance communities.
Required Skills and Experience:

Capable of performing the following functions:

  • Apply the theories and principles of science and mathematics to research and develop economical solutions to technical problems.
  • Design products, machinery, implement improved ways to extract, process, and use raw materials, develop new materials that both improve the performance of products and take advantage of advances in technology.
  • Analyze the impact of the products developed or the systems designed on the environment and on the people using them.
  • Work in testing, production, or maintenance by supervising production, determining the causes of breakdowns, and the testing of manufactured products to maintain quality.
  • Estimate the time and cost to complete projects.
  • Typical Experience: 7 years professional experience in engineering.
  • Desired: Min of 10 yrs experience with DOD ACAT ID Acquisition Programs.
  • Desired: Min of 5 yrs Navy experience working with:
  1. Submarine Signatures and Acoustics.
  2. Detailed knowledge of all aspects of submarine acquisition programs related to ship acoustic signatures including; design, construction, R&D and general program requirements.
Degree Requirements:
  • Preferred: Bachelor's level degree in any technical discipline.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • A secret security clearance
