Job summary

John Deere in Iowa is seeking an Engineer, Structures to design and develop structural components using Creo. You will create drawings, specs, and documentation to support product development, while assisting prototype builds and tests.

The role requires strong problem-solving, collaboration with multiple teams, and willingness to travel up to 10%. A BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required.

Title: Engineer, Structures - 123949

Onsite/Remote: Onsite Position

Your Responsibilities
  • Design and develop structural components and assemblies, including frames, sheet metal, castings, and welded structures, using Creo
  • Develop engineering drawings, technical specifications, and design documentation to support product development
  • Support prototype builds, testing activities, and customer field evaluations to validate structural designs
  • Investigate design issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to improve product quality and durability
  • Collaborate with test engineering, manufacturing, supply management, quality, and product teams to deliver optimized structural solutions

What Skills You Need
  • Proficiency with 3D modeling tools, such as Creo or Solidworks
  • Understanding of structural design fundamentals, including weldments, sheet metal, castings, bolted joints, and material selection
  • Strong desire and ability to learn and apply design principals to ongoing design activities
  • Ability to analyze technical data, evaluate design alternatives, and make sound engineering decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate design issues, determine root cause, and support corrective actions
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with manufacturing, test engineering, supply management, quality, and product teams
  • Demonstrated experience managing several projects simultaneously
  • Ability and willingness to travel both domestic and internationally, up to 10%
What Makes You Stand Out
  • Working knowledge of John Deere product development processes.
  • Experience applying geometrical dimension and tolerancing principles
  • Experience developing tolerance stack up analyses
  • Experience performing or interpreting finite element analysis results
  • Experience with designing or testing stampings, welding, casting, composites, and/or machining processes
  • Familiarity with operating Construction, Forestry, or Ag off-road equipment
Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
