Job summary

John Deere in Dubuque, IA, is seeking an Engineer, Electrical Systems for the Construction & Forestry division. The role focuses on developing and validating electrical systems, diagnosing issues on prototypes and production units, and coordinating with suppliers to ensure component quality.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and create electrical schematics and harness layouts.
  • Experience with electrical components and interface considerations.

Responsibilities

Your Responsibilities

As a Engineer, Electrical Systems for John Deere's Construction & Forestry (C&F) division in Dubuque, IA you will:

  • Support requirements development and design for electronic components and electrical systems
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical issues on prototype and current production units
  • Work with electronic suppliers to ensure component interface and quality meet John Deere’s needs
  • Participate in print reviews and design reviews for new products
  • Work with test engineers, supply management, and quality to deliver optimized solutions

What Skills You Need
  • 1 or more years of previous electrical engineering experience which may include internships or personal projects
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Strong organization and workload planning skills
  • Ability to understand and create electrical schematics
  • Ability to create 3D electrical harness geometry
  • A willingness to investigate emerging issues, determine root cause, and drive corrective action
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, up to 25%
What Makes You Stand Out
  • Previous electrical engineering experience performing analysis, testing and/or design work
  • Experience in the automotive/heavy on-road/off-road industries
  • Knowledge of electrical components such as batteries, starters, alternators, rocker switches, relays, solenoids, sensors, actuators, controllers, and connectors
  • Experience performing environmental verification testing and diagnosing and resolving issues
  • Experience performing EMC testing and issue resolution
  • Knowledge of electrical wire harness circuits and routing
  • Experience writing functional, performance, and durability requirements
  • Experience working with suppliers in the application of electrical components
  • Familiarity with operating Construction, Forestry, or Ag off-road equipment
  • CAN, USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth communications experience
  • Experience with modeling tools for harness routing and drawing creation, especially Creo or Capital Harness.
Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent such as Physics, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering. Others may apply.
