Job summary

Valcor Engineering Corporation seeks an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to lead fixture design and development for NPI programs in a manufacturing environment. You will drive fixture lists, coordinate with design and test teams, and push process improvements across assembly and test cells.

The role requires seven-plus years in manufacturing engineering, expertise in fixture design, SolidWorks, and strong lean/Six Sigma capabilities. On-site role with collaborative cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or the technical equivalent.
  • 7+ Years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Experience leading others preferred.
  • Experience with fixture design.
  • Understanding of Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing tools.
  • Proficient in the use of SolidWorks.
  • Solid project management, communication, and cross functional team leadership skills.
  • Ability to perform in a fast paced, medium sized company.
  • Results oriented and ability to motivate team members.

Responsibilities

  • For NPI programs, with input from design and test engineers, determine all needed assembly and test fixtures (create fixture list).
  • Design, draw, have manufactured, inspect, and validate manufacturing, assembly, and test fixtures.
  • For NPI programs, coordinate with planner / buyer, design & test engineers on fixture jobs / PO’s, priority, and schedule.
  • Develop new and improve existing manufacturing, assembly, and test processes and cells.
  • Create new and revise existing routers, driven by ECO’s, process improvements, etc.
  • Update jobs based on NCMR’s, ECO’s / EO’s, redlines, etc.
  • Create jobs to make fixtures or development parts.
  • Review and approve ECO’s for new and changes to existing drawings, documents, etc.
  • Review, provide feedback, and offer alternatives regarding NPI drawings for correctness, manufacturability, standardization, best practices, and lessons learned
  • Build development and LRIP assemblies.
  • Create new and revise existing assembly procedures, work instructions, part protection procedures, standards, etc.
  • Determine and implement part protection and handling processes to reduce damage and rework.
  • Provide all needed support for final packaging, E.G., process, materials, documentation, etc.
  • Prepare ECO’s for new and changes to fixture drawings, weld simulation drawings, standards, etc.
  • Lead or support the identification and removal of waste from manufacturing, assembly, and test processes
  • Lead or support cross functional teams
  • Lead or support structured problem solving / root cause corrective actions to address systemic quality problems
  • Manage / mentor manufacturing engineers
  • Assists / trains / reviews and approves manufacturing engineers’ fixture lists, fixture designs, routers, assembly procedures, etc.
  • Conduct weekly one on one meetings with manufacturing engineers
  • Write and deliver annual performance reviews
  • Participate in interviews and offer input / recommendations
  • Manage / mentor intern(s)
  • Lead or support capital expense efforts
