Job summary

Valcor Engineering Corporation in New Jersey seeks a Quality Assurance Engineer responsible for QA activities, developing and administering QC procedures, ensuring conformity to specifications, maintaining certifications (AS9100D, ISO9001, NADCAP), and serving as interface with customers and vendors.

The role includes root-cause analysis (8D, 5 Whys), leading CAPA activities, audits, reviewing drawings and specs, coordinating with product/manufacturing groups, and supporting LEAN/Six Sigma

Qualifications

  • 4 year technical degree or equivalent, prefer Mechanical Engineering.
  • 4-8 years experience in various phases of Quality Assurance in Aerospace/Defense/Nuclear environments.
  • Must be mobile, capable of communicating with plant personnel at all levels.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; composing written reports and other communications.
  • Proficiency with standard office software and quality tools.

  • Oversee testing/inspection procedures and coordinate inspections with customers/inspectors.

Summary

Responsible for Quality Assurance activities at the Valcor Engineering Corp. performing specialized, complex and involved assignments of a Quality engineering nature having to do with development and administration of quality control procedures and techniques. These include:

  • ensuring that the company’s products conform to all specifications and customer requirements,
  • directing/overseeing activities associated with maintaining all company certifications, and all external agency approvals such as AS9100D and ISO9001 certifications, NADCAP.
  • overseeing configuration management, and quality assurance processes.
  • Serving as the interface with customers and vendors on quality related topics.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
  • Perform root cause analysis (8D,5 Whys) of identified issues and identify appropriate corrective and preventive action.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams in the investigation and elimination of causes of quality problems and verify effectiveness on corrective actions (Corrective Action Board).
  • Interface directly with customers to provide the best customer quality experience.
  • Perform audits as required to assure compliance with regulatory, customer, and internal requirements.
  • Review and assure compliance with customer blueprints, specifications and other technical and quality system documents including Purchase Orders.
  • Work closely with Product and Manufacturing engineering, Manufacturing and inspection personnel on procedural problems involving design, methods, tooling, costs and other areas involved in control of product quality.
  • As required review raw material certification and review/approve raw material released for production.
  • Oversee critical testing and inspection procedures and coordinate inspections with customers and inspectors; analyze and document results.
  • Investigate customer complaints on product quality and work closely with customer’s representatives to resolve problems.
  • Ensure that the company’s products conform to all specifications and customer requirements.
  • Become Delegated Quality Representative (Ref. AS13001) for selected customers.
  • Responsible for assuring that customer quality requirements have been adequately defined to permit appropriate quality planning and implementation and that the quality requirements have been met.
  • Facilitate the use of LEAN/ Six Sigma, and other quality tools for quality and process improvement.
  • Prepare and review product data package.
  • Establish and provide written procedures for quality assurance activities as related to product manufactured.
  • Participate in review and disposition or nonconforming materials.
  • Participate in customer audits and source inspections.
  • Reviews product and documentation in accordance with applicable customer, regulatory, military, and industry specifications.
  • Troubleshoot problems in-house and also those reported by customers including field returns as required and as they occur.
  • Review and approve component and final products FAI’s
  • Support in-process product reviews.
Education And Skills Requirements
  • 4 year technical degree or equivalent, prefer Mechanical Engineering
  • 4-8 years experience in various phases of Quality Assurance or equivalent in Aerospace, Defense, or Nuclear Power generation environments
  • Must be mobile, capable of communicating with plant personnel at all levels
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; composing written reports and other communications
  • Superior analytical skills, capable of using current computer analysis tools (Microsoft Office, plus others applicable programs)
