Overview

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems Sector is seeking a Software Engineer/Principal Engineer Software to join our Global Surveillance Division in Melbourne, Florida. The role supports development and maintenance of software infrastructure, automation, and integration of complex systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and deploy application builds, releases, and automation scripts.
• Work in an agile development process, collaborating with business partners to gather requirements and prototype solutions.
• Integrate and troubleshoot software changes, supporting the CI/CD pipeline and configuration management.
• Provide technical solutions to complex problems, documenting findings and presenting recommendations clearly.
• Mentor team members and provide leadership on software projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics) and 2+ years of software engineering experience, OR Master’s degree with 0+ years of experience.
• Solid understanding of object‑oriented programming languages including C/C++.
• Experience with Windows, Linux, and RTOS (LynxOS, VxWorks).
• Familiarity with Atlassian tools, Git, Confluence, and Java/C++ development.
• U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance and any required program access.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree with 5+ years of software development experience.
• Experience with SELinux, Rhapsody/Cameo UML, CI/CD automation, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of safety‑critical software standards (DO‑178C), avionics communication protocols (ARINC 429, ARINC 422, MIL‑STD‑1553), and HIL/SIL testing.
• Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, SaltStack) and automated testing (Selenium, Coverity).

Salary

Primary Level: $79,300.00 – $118,900.00
Secondary Level: $98,400.00 – $147,600.00
