Job Overview

At NorthropGrumman, we’re looking for an Engineer Software to support our Global Surveillance Division in Melbourne, Florida. The role includes deploying, automating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the software infrastructure to ensure seamless system operation. Relocation assistance is available, the position requires a secret‑level security clearance, and the engineer will participate in a full agile development life‑cycle, integrating with hardware and software teams, and delivering high‑quality software solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Deploy, automate, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the software infrastructure.
  • Design and implement application builds, releases, deployments, and configuration activities.
  • Work with business partners to gather requirements, prototype, and architect complex solutions.
  • Perform quality reviews, triage, and resolve operational issues.
  • Integrate, test, and troubleshoot software changes, ensuring modules work together.
  • Create test plans, automate tests, and manage test execution in accordance with specifications.
  • Participate in the full life cycle of software development: requirements, design, application, unit to system testing, release, installation, and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with program management, external suppliers, or government customers.
  • Collect, analyze, and report software metrics.
  • Mentor and lead teams, coordinating inter‑disciplinary efforts with hardware and other software components.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM or equivalent experience (minimum 2years) or Master’s degree (0years).
  • Strong knowledge of SDLC, testing methodologies (unit, integration, system, regression), and test automation.
  • Experience with CI/CD platforms such as Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo, GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Object‑oriented programming in C/C++ and Python; proficiency in Bash, PowerShell, and YAML.
  • Experience testing Linux OS configuration and services.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance and special program access.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in STEM.
  • Experience creating test software and scripts in C, C++, Java, Python, PowerShell, Bash.
  • Knowledge of static and dynamic code analysis tools (Coverity, SonarQube, Fortify) and fuzzing tools.
  • Experience integrating hardware and software in a lab environment.
  • Experience with IBM DOORS or SysML/MBSE tools.
  • Knowledge of container testing using Docker or Podman.
  • Willingness to work temporary or short‑term off‑peak hours.
