Software Engineer – Embedded and Real Time

Location: Melbourne, Florida (Onsite)

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, integrate, modify, and maintain embedded mission system applications.
  • Participate in the full software development life cycle including requirements, modeling, design, implementation, unit to CSCI testing, integration, formal testing, release, installation, and maintenance.
  • Architect and develop software applications on real-time operating systems.
  • Work within Agile Scrum teams to deliver multiple software baselines.
Essential Functions
  • Work in an innovative environment with diverse assignments and collaborative teams.
  • Participate in the full software development life cycle.
  • Lead embedded mission systems software development on real-time OS.
  • Engage with Agile Scrum processes.
Qualifications
  • Basic Qualification: Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 2 years of related engineering experience; OR Master’s degree in STEM with 0 years experience.
  • Knowledge of Agile Framework.
  • Experience developing software and scripts in C, Object‑Oriented C++, and/or Python for safety/mission-critical applications.
  • Familiarity with software change control, change management, and CI/CD tools (Atlassian suite, GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience architecting, designing, modeling with Rhapsody or Cameo.
  • Implementing, maintaining, integrating, debugging, verifying, qualifying safety/mission‑critical embedded real‑time software written in OO C++ on VxWorks, Integrity, or Real‑time Embedded Linux.
  • Knowledge of static & dynamic code analysis and fuzzing tools such as Coverity, SonarQube, or Fortify.
  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance (in‑scope) with ability to obtain/maintain special program access prior to employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current Special Access Program (SAP) access.
Salary and Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00. Salary determined by role scope, experience, education, skills, and market. Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus. Northrop Grumman provides health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plan, paid holidays, PTO, and other benefits.
