Job summary

City of Fort Worth is seeking an Engineer Project Coordinator to lead and manage a variety of city infrastructure projects supporting Fort Worth’s water and wastewater systems. You will design, inspect, and coordinate contracts for essential improvements, with guidance from a Senior Professional Engineer.

The role emphasizes strong communication, project organization, and the use of established design criteria to ensure quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology.
• Four (4) years of civil engineering, water/wastewater design, construction, or project coordination experience.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license in the State of Texas.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate city infrastructure projects that improve daily life for Fort Worth residents.
• Apply civil engineering expertise to design, inspect, and manage contracts for water and sanitary sewer improvements.
• Play a key role in construction procurement by preparing, reviewing, and evaluating bids, cost estimates, and change orders.
• Grow your career while working under the guidance of a Senior Professional Engineer.
• Respond to a high volume of inquiries from the public, internal teams, and partner organizations.
• Use Fort Worth Water Department’s established engineering design criteria to ensure quality and compliance.

An exciting opportunity is now open for an Engineer Project Coordinator with the City of Fort Worth Water Department’s In‑House Design Section (Capital Delivery). In this role, you’ll take the lead on designing and managing a variety of city engineering projects that directly support Fort Worth’s growing water and wastewater infrastructure.

The In‑House Design Section oversees both miscellaneous and large‑scale capital improvement projects involving water and wastewater pipeline design, project management, and construction coordination. We’re looking for a highly motivated, detail‑oriented individual with a solid understanding of water/wastewater design who thrives in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology
• Four (4) years of civil engineering, water/wastewater design, construction, or project coordination experience
• Possession of a valid driver’s license in the State of Texas

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficient skills using Microsoft Word and Excel
• Experience with engineering software such as AutoCAD, GIS, or similar tools Strong communication and organizational skills for managing multiple projects and inquiries
