Komatsu is seeking an Engineer IV, Embedded Software Developer to join our team in Peoria, Illinois. This role involves completing embedded software development tasks, contributing to design teams for vehicle chassis and components, and providing technical support for manufacturing and customer issues.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering coupled with six years of relevant experience, strong C programming skills, and familiarity with Linux operating systems. This position also offers competitive compensation with a range of $111,675 to $133,000 per year.
Responsible for completing general embedded software development assignments, as well as contributing to design teams on electrical projects for vehicle chassis, and/or components, and/or systems. To develop embedded software control design concepts and associated documentation to support the manufacturing of products. Development to meet design compliance to Engineering Standards, product quality and product cost. Interface with other Komatsu Engineering groups and suppliers as required for exchange of technical information. Provide technical support to Manufacturing for vehicle build issues, Marketing plus Sales for vehicle sales issues, and Service plus Parts for customer issues. Visit customer sites for resolution of product issues, promotion of sales, maintaining knowledge of mine environment, and understanding customer expectations.
Lead or perform in engineering projects to develop, maintain and support components, products and/or services per market demands, as well as for continual process improvements. Perform or plan engineering evaluations including investigations, calculations and tests requiring guidance only in controversial circumstances. Provide conceptual and strategic solutions to solve problems that are associated with engineering projects or evaluations. In addition, develop and participate in programs for effective communication of engineering issues to ensure compliance with global standards for design and safety of products and services, as well as engineering best practices. Develop and support improvements to streamline engineering processes used to design, develop, maintain and support components, products, and/or services, and he will implement effective Change Management to achieve the desired organizational outcomes by successfully changing individual behaviors as needed.
Education/Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent in a related engineering field and six (6) years of progressively responsible, post baccalaureate, related engineering experience.

Telecommuting permitted within normal commuting distance of the worksite 1 day/week.
