Job summary

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is seeking an Engineer-In-Training II in Laurel County to perform moderately complex engineering tasks on projects with scope to build practical skills for registration as a professional engineer.

Responsibilities include coordinating contractors, overseeing design work, and developing cost estimates while learning KYTC surveying and terrain model workflows in a field-office setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• Two years of engineering experience as an Engineer-In-Training.
• Valid driver's license and EIT certification.
• Master's degree can substitute for one year of experience.
• Ability to work in office and/or field settings.

Responsibilities

• Oversees portions of engineering-related areas to analyze data and ensure conformance to plans and standards.
• Coordinate and oversee contractors, consultants, and engineering work.
• Serve as project manager for highway design projects.
• Develop accurate cost estimates for active design projects.
• Learn KYTC feature code language used during TOPO surveying and DTM construction.
