Job summary

State of Colorado’s CDOT is seeking an Engineer-in-Training I to develop skills in traffic operations, design and construction management on state highways. You will work under licensed engineers to learn planning, analysis, and project delivery in a collaborative public sector setting.

The role emphasizes learning to apply MUTCD standards, use CDOT software, and coordinate with municipalities and other agencies while pursuing licensure as an engineer. Strong ethics and safety focus are expected.

Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology.
• Enrollment as an Engineer-Intern by the Colorado Board may substitute for the degree.
• Transcripts may be required as part of the application process.

Responsibilities

• Learn to provide designs and safety improvements for rural/urban highways.
• Develop traffic plans, cost estimates, and plan sheets for signalization and signing.
• Assist in traffic operations and coordination with agencies and contractors.
• Gain experience in MUTCD, CDOT design standards, and project management.
