Job summary

Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is seeking an Engineer‑In‑Training in the Engineering Residency in Denver. You will learn to apply engineering theories to highway project plans under a licensed Professional Engineer, progressing toward licensure while supporting design, construction, and contract oversight.

The position emphasizes learning design practices, documentation, and coordination across project teams, with opportunities for field work and state benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Anticipated graduation date December 2026.
• Submit transcript(s) or official foreign credential evaluation report if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Apply engineering principles, theories, and standards to design and preparation of highway project plans.
• Assist with design tasks under supervision of a Professional Engineer.
• Track activities, draft change orders, and maintain project documentation.
• Support financial reporting, plan updates, and spend-down information for contracts.
• Ensure safety regulations are followed and required training completed.
• Occasionally drive CDOT vehicles and travel to project sites.
