Job summary

City of Hallandale Beach is seeking a civil engineer to perform complex professional, technical, and administrative work on environmental, water, sewer, street, and other Public Works projects, ensuring compliance with current codes and criteria.

The candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, have 5+ years of experience, and be eligible for Florida PE licensure, with NIMS certification and a valid Florida driver's license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of civil engineering experience, or equivalent.
• Must have NIMS certification (level to be determined) or obtain within one year.
• Must have or be able to obtain Florida PE license.
• Must have a valid Florida driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.

Job description

Performs complex professional, technical, and administrative and engineering work for environmental, water, sewer, street, and other Public Works projects and programs ensuring technical competence and compliance with all current codes and criteria. Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures. Work is performed under direction with considerable latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment. Seeks technical guidance only on unusual or complex problems or issues.

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.

• (5) five or more years’ civil engineering experience; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.

• Must have National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification (level to be determined by job classification requirements), or obtain within one year of employment.

• Must have or be able to obtain a Florida Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer.

• Must have a valid Florida driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record throughout employment.
