Job summary

Akkodis is seeking an Engineer III for a contract role in New Braunfels, TX. The engineer will perform gas distribution design, analysis, and project coordination for infrastructure improvements and field installations.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in utility design, gas distribution, and project management, with experience in SAP, MicroStation, and related tools. This position offers a competitive hourly rate and a path for project-based work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Civil, Industrial or other approved engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in utility design, gas distribution engineering, infrastructure design, or utility construction projects.
• Strong understanding of gas distribution systems, engineering design principles, project management and budgeting.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering design, calculations, estimates, studies, and coordination for gas distribution facility installations.
• Analyze load requirements, pressure demands, and growth projections to support system design and planning.
• Develop drawings and communicate design specifications to field personnel and contractors.
• Oversee layout, sizing, and specification of gas distribution equipment for projects.
• Conduct distribution system pressure studies and cathodic protection evaluations for reliability.
• Prepare economic justifications, budgets, and cost estimates for infrastructure projects.
• Coordinate with agencies, contractors, utilities, and regulators on project activities.
• Review work orders and costs to ensure compliance with plans and budgets.

Job description

Akkodis is seeking an Engineer III for a Contract job with a client in New Braunfels, TX. The ideal candidate must have strong experience in utility engineering, gas distribution design, and project management, along with the ability to support field installations, engineering analysis, and infrastructure improvement projects.

Rate Range: $58/hour to $60/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Engineer III Job Responsibilities Include

• Perform engineering design, calculations, estimates, studies, and coordination activities for gas distribution facility installations.
• Analyze load requirements, pressure demands, future growth projections, and other operational factors to support system design and planning.
• Develop engineering drawings and effectively communicate design specifications and project requirements to field personnel and contractors.
• Oversee the layout, sizing, and specification of gas distribution equipment while supporting project execution and field installation activities.
• Conduct distribution system pressure studies and cathodic protection evaluations to support system integrity and reliability.
• Prepare economic justifications, project budgets, cost estimates, and capital investment recommendations for utility infrastructure projects.
• Coordinate with external agencies, contractors, suppliers, local utilities, and regulatory organizations regarding project activities and infrastructure planning.
• Review completed work orders, project costs, and construction activities to ensure compliance with approved plans and budget expectations.

Desired Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in: Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Other approved Engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in: Utility Design, Gas Distribution Engineering, Infrastructure Design, Utility Construction Projects.
• Strong understanding of:
• Gas Distribution Systems, Engineering Design Principles, Project Management, Utility Infrastructure Operations, Cost Estimation & Budgeting.
• Experience with:
• SAP EDS & FIN Modules
• MicroStation
• Stoner
• ArcInfo
• Microsoft Office Applications

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting utility infrastructure construction and field installation projects.
• Familiarity with DOT CFR 192 regulations and utility compliance standards.
• Experience performing pressure analysis, cathodic protection studies, and system evaluations.

Pay Details: $58.00 to $60.00 per hour
