Job summary

FirstEnergy in Akron, Ohio, seeks an Engineer II to support online monitors for power transformers, circuit breakers and DC battery banks, feeding PI Historian and APM for real-time condition assessment. This role will develop operating standards and commissioning procedures for monitors and assist with deployments.

The position requires a BS in engineering (ABET), an FE/PE pathway, and strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required or PE/FE pathway considered.
• Experience reading substation design prints and bills of material preferred.
• Ability to analyze large datasets and use related databases.

Responsibilities

• Champion online monitoring program implementation across the footprint.
• Research and test new monitoring solutions to aid condition monitoring and decision making.
• Collaborate with Transmission & Substation Services to refine monitor test routines and protocols.
• Assist in maintenance practices to address changing tech and regulations.
• Develop training material for operational technology deployed on FE System.
